BOTOX (Botulinum toxin) can be used to treat wrinkles, which are the result of normal facial movement.
When Botox is injected into a specific muscle in the face, it blocks the signal from the nerve to the muscle. This means that the nerve ending cannot tell the muscle to move, hence there will be less wrinkling in the treated area, which helps you look younger.
What is Botox?
Botox (anti wrinkle injections) injections weaken the facial muscles that create wrinkles and frowns when they contract. When it starts to wear off, muscle activity will gradually begin to reappear.
This treatment is effective but temporary and has to be repeated every 3 to 6 months. The goal is a natural, subtle softening, not the complete elimination of facial expression lines.
Uses of Botox
Botox has been used cosmetically since 1989. The upper third of the face is where the best treatment results are obtained. It is primarily used to treat;
Frown lines on the forehead
Lines between the eyebrows
Crows feet around the eyes
Nose lines/Bunny lines
Botox is also used to treat hyperdidrosis (excess sweating)
The whole treatment should take no longer than 10 to 15 minutes and you can drive immediately afterwards.
Most patients find that Botox injections cause very little discomfort, and many compare the feeling to a little insect bite. The needles are tiny with minute amounts of liquid injected into the skin.
